Update Your Security Software:

Enhance your security while you are online

1. All customers should keep their operating systems up to date by ensuring that automatic updates are switched ON and any updates are installed when they become available.

2. Go to Microsoft Windows OR Apple Mac

3. As a minimum, MCB Islamic Bank recommends that all customers have regularly updated software with anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam and firewall capabilities installed on their computers.

4. Install anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall software on your computer.

5. Ensure that these softwares are kept up-to-date and install any updates immediately.

6. Schedule a regular scan of your computer using anti-virus and anti-spyware software – to do this follow the instructions from your software vendor.

7. Consider using a SPAM filtering product which will help block spam (junk emails).

8. Ensure your computer has the latest security updates applied. Vendors regularly release these updates as ‘patches’.

9. You can usually download these for free from the vendor’s website. This will help protect your computer from viruses, worms and trojans. These are malicious programs, often carried in something that looks harmless such as an email or a game, but in fact can contain a program that allows an intruder to access your computer without your knowledge.

10. If you are concerned that your computer may be infected with a virus, worm or Trojan, MCB Islamic Bank recommends that you use Internet Banking after getting it removed.
